WE(WestEast) Design organises different events, projects and exhibitions throughout the year. In addition, the group meets at least once a month with event talks. The talks focus on an aspect of design and contemporary China, be it commercial, economic, political or cultural. A question and answer session follows. Event talks will be wide-ranging and speakers are selected from the group members and external experts in their field. “Cheers ” 2009

“Cheers ”, co-organised with WE(WestEast) Design, is the first Chinese Art and Design exhibition in London of this size, with the largest number of exhibitors and the most comprehensive different forms of work. These include Fine Art, Fashion Design, Spatial Design, Multimedia Art, Communication Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Jewellery Design and Photography.

WE Design Sponsorship: Jordy’s Cloud Chandeliers in 100% Design
Jordy specialises creating environments that engage emotions. Cloud Chandeliers are all handmade with recycled paper, they transform a space with magic and intimacy. WE(WestEast) Design sponsored Jordy’s exciting show in 100% Design Exhibition held in London on 23-26 September 2009.

WE Design in Chengdu ZMF Music Festival

WE Design was invited to attend the NGO program in ZMF Music Festival, the kicking off event for the Anniversary of Sichuan Earthquake in Amy 2009. The winning schemes in the Sichuan School International Design Competition was exhibited in WE Design Tent to 30,000 visitors. Other invited NGO includes WWF, C Nature.

Winners for Sichuan School Competition Announced

The open jury for the Sichuan School International Conceptual Design Competition was successfully held in UCL on 18th April 2009. The winning schemes are from across the world and the first prize for the Architecture category is from China. The standard of entry was high and both the winners and commendations were very deserving. The winning entries not just provide pratical solutions, but also take into account the need of students and demonstrate the potential of creative and contemporary design intervention in schools.

WE Design Talk 3rd April 2009
 Two Chinese designers – interior designer Yang Li from Chapman Taylor and product designer Zhongin Wu from Central Saint Martin will present their latest projects. 

WE Design Talk 25th March 2009
This event is the second part of the previous WE Design Talk held on 30th Jan. The main theme of the event is: Chinese Designers in London. Two talented Chinese designers -Ting Yu from Eastern China Design Institute (Shanghai) and Jordy Fu from SOM presented their recently-completed and on-going projects. Enthusiastic discussion afterwards benefited both presenters and the audience.

Sichuan School International Conceptual Design Competition

You are invited to join Sichuan School International Conceptual Design Competition. The objectives of the conceptual design competition are to gather design ideas to support the after earthquake recovery development for a high school in Sichuan and to provoke discussion of ideas and direction regarding design intervention in contemporary school development.

WE Design: Interior… 30 January 2009
WE Design: Interior… taking place at the Alan Baxter Gallery on 30 January 2009, is a one-night event focusing on Chinese Interior Designers in London. Three interior designers – Wei Luo from Conran and Partners, Ying Jin from GA Design International and Xuan Zhao from MMoser, presented their recently completed and on-going projects including restaurant, hotel and office, and explore themes, in particular professional design practice across multi- design disciplinary and working in different cultural context.

Make Your Card Grass to Celebrate The OX Year 
Chinese Lunar New Year is starting from January 26, 2009. 2009 is year of OX in the Chinese zodiac. We created the card for this special occasion. People are encouraged to use their hand and mind to make their own grass. Why grass? Grass can survive in the most severe storm due to its modest size and flexibility. We need the grass spirit to go through the financial and economic storm in 2009.

WE Design won Group Excellent Design Award in Shenzhen Design Fair
WE(WestEast) Design members were invited to Shenzhen International Original Design Fair 2008 and won the Group Excellent Design Award.The impressive exhibition from WE Design showcased the members’ works from architecture, product, fashion and animation. 18 members participated in the show. They are Jing Bao, Tie Fan, Feigang, Fuqing, Yan Guo, Chailie Ho, Huawei Ou, Yan Pan, Stephen Suen, Hansong Li, Yan Lu, Kuo Wang, Xing Wang, Leo Wu, Zhongmin Wu, Yanfei Xiao, Feng Xu, Manfred Yuen and Xiaoyi Zhang.

WE Design Talk  9th Oct 2008
In this event Tie Fan from Foster+Partners, Leo Wu fom Zaha Hadid, Yan Guo from John McAslan + Partnerts, Manfred Yuen from KPF and  Stephen Suen from EDAW presented her design for Sichuan Delivery Exhibition. Cancan Cao, fashion designer, also presented her works and latest fashion collection for the coming seasons.  And Ken Xiao, consultant from IPD, talked about the market performance and analysis in the context of current credit crunch.

WE Design Exhibition: Delivery to Sichuan 4th Sep 2008
The event is organised by WE(WestEast) Design. Members from different disciplines were invited to come up with ideas to address some or all of the following issues in response to natural disaster: Fast delivery to natural disaster spot; easy construction; effective shelter; addressing short-mid term needs in emergency; exploring new material and innovation; memorial for the lost life; and evoking hope for the people who survive.
