Who are we?

WE(WestEast) Design, a nonprofit organisation, is a multi-cultural, cross-disciplinary platform to serve the needs of designers who are interested in the contemporary design in China. WE Design aims to build a footstone enabling design professionals to network and enhance their knowledge sharing and to support the development of the creative industry in China.
Its members are of professional designers, architects, curators, scholars, design students and business executives who have worked both in China and Western countries and faced the cultural and ideological differences. These high-profile designers have agreed for the needs of organizations such as WE Design who can work as a facilitator between cultures and furthermore, between different disciplines within the design industry and formed the group in accordance to their philosophy. Now WE Design has partners in Beijing, New York, Tokyo, providing a collective platform globally.
WE(WestEast) Design organises different events, projects and exhibitions throughout the year, and creates co-operative and integrating design projects which can connect China with UK/Europe. In addition, the group meets at least once a month with talk events. Each talk focus on an aspect of design and contemporary China, be it commercial, economic, political or cultural. Event talks are wide-ranging and speakers are selected from the group members and external experts in their field.
WE(WestEast) Design enables members to network with like-minded Chinese and Sinophiles to enhance the sharing and exchanging of expertise and knowledge of design disciplines.
WE(WestEast) Design creates the opportunities of co-operation and integration of design projects in China and Britain/Europe.
WE(WestEast) Design works collectively building the ‘WE’ confidence and promoting the presence of Chinese/Sinophiles in creative industries in China and Britain/Europe.
